Women Lose 4-3 to No. 49 Florida Int'l

The Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team finished up its three-game Florida swing with another close loss, this time to Sun Belt Conference opponent and No. 49-ranked Florida International in Boca Raton, Fla., on Sunday morning. For the Cajuns it was their third straight 4-3 loss.

The Cajuns (2-6) won the doubles point, but were unable to capture three singles points, going 2-4 in singles play.

"We came out and played hard," coach Tina Samara said. "We fell short, but I can be proud of the effort today. They are a highly ranked team and we came out and were that close. Now it's time to bring that intensity to Friday's match against Middle Tennessee."

Julie Mazinova knocked off Christine Seredni at the No. 2 spot 6-1, 7-6 (5). Mia Gordon was the other singles winner for the Cajuns, she knocked off Magali Holt 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot.

In doubles play it was Tara Vosovic teaming with Briggit Marchovic for an 8-5 win. At the No. 3 spot it was Audrey Wooland and Milou Israel won their match 8-3.

The Cajuns return to action on Friday as they play host to Middle Tennessee at Cajun Courts at 2 p.m.
