A three-run home run by Tyler Vick in the fifth inning provided the go-ahead runs as South Alabama went on to claim a 9-4 victory Saturday afternoon at Eddie Stanky Field in Mobile, evening up the weekend series with Louisiana.

Vick's blast to left center accounted for the final runs of a four-run frame for the Jaguars (14-8, 4-1 Sun Belt) who erased a 3-1 Louisiana lead that inning.

USA posted another four runs in the seventh inning and relief pitcher Carlton Paris tossed three innings of two-hit baseball to finish off the Cajuns (11-8, 2-3 Sun Belt).

UL and USA play the rubber match of the series on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.

Jordan Poirrier, Chad Keefer, Alex Fuselier and Matt Goulas each posted two-hit games for the Cajuns. Keefer stretched his career-best hitting streak to 11 games.

The Cajuns received home runs from Keefer and Tyler Frederick. It was the first career home run for Frederick.

Similar to last Saturday's game with Arkansas State, UL starter Taylor Hubbell's lone mistake came in the fifth inning. Hubbell went 4 2/3 innings allowing five runs (all earned) on five hits and exited after Vick's homer. Entering the fifth inning, Hubbell had held the Jaguars to just three hits.

An RBI single to left center by Keefer in the first inning opened the scoring and gave the Cajuns a 1-0 lead.

UL took advantage of a two-base error by USA left fielder Clint Reynolds in the second which put Goulas in position to score on a single to left field by Justin Robichaux.

A leadoff double in the Jaguars half of the second inning by Vick set the stage for a Taylor White sacrifice fly that accounted for the first USA run of the day and trimmed the lead to 2-1.

Frederick launched his first career home run on the first pitch of the fifth inning and the Cajuns regained a two-run advantage.

USA got the run back with a two-out RBI single from Sean Laird then on the next at bat Vick's heroics gave the hosts the lead for good.
