Softball Schedule Set for 2011

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns softball team opens the season with tournaments at Lamson Park the first two weekends and has a return trip to the prestigious Judi Garman Classic scheduled in mid-March during the 2011 season. The home schedule features a total of 27 games in addition to hosting the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Tournament (May 11-14).
The 2010 Super Regional participants will enjoy 10 consecutive games at Lamson Park before playing a road contest. In tournament play, co-head coaches Stefni and Michael Lotief's squad visits Kissimmee, Fla., for the ESPN College Games (March 4-6) and faces national powerhouses Arizona and Arizona State at the Judi Garman Classic.
The Ragin' Cajuns are scheduled to play in five tournaments which includes the two tournaments at the new Lamson Park and trips to the ESPN College Games (Kissimmee, Fla.) and Judi Garman Classic (Fullerton, Calif.).
The 2011 season marks the 11th campaign under the direction of co-head coaches Stefni and Michael Lotief and it starts Feb. 11-13 with the Louisiana Classics at Lamson Park. UL hosts Arkansas, Prairie View A&M, Rhode Island and Sam Houston State.
UL will be at home the next weekend, hosting the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational Feb. 18-20. Participating teams include Maine, Mississippi Valley State, Stephen F. Austin and Tennessee State.
The first road trip takes the Cajuns to Lake Charles for the McNeese State Tournament the weekend of Feb. 25-27.
Louisiana's first contests in the month of March come at the ESPN College Games in Kissimmee, Fla. (March 4-6). Sun Belt Conference play begins on the road March 12-13 at North Texas, and then a single game with McNeese State on March 15 at Lamson Park precedes the annual trip to the Judi Garman Classic March 17-19 in Fullerton.
The Sun Belt home opener is set for March 26-27 against Troy. The series with the Trojans is part of a stretch in which UL plays nine of 12 SBC games at Lamson Park through April 17.
Other SBC series at home include FIU (April 6-7), Middle Tennessee (April 16-17) and Western Kentucky (April 30-May 1).
The remaining Sun Belt road series are at South Alabama (April 9-10), Florida Atlantic (April 23-24) and La.-Monroe (May 7-8).
In addition to McNeese State, other mid-week matchups at Lamson Park are against Centenary (April 13), Nicholls State (April 19), and Northwestern State (April 27). The only mid-week road contests of the season take place in a doubleheader at Houston on March 30.
Louisiana will serve as the host of the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Tournament which is scheduled for May 11-14 at Lamson Park.
