Women's Tennis Falls to LSU 7-0

The Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team opened the season with a 7-0 loss to the No. 29 LSU Tigers on Sunday afternoon in Baton Rouge, La. Head coach Tina Samara said she wasn't unhappy with the loss, but rather the effort some of the team put forward.

"Number one I think we blew a big opportunity," Samara said. "I think half our team showed up to play and the other half basically didn't."

In singles play it was nationally ranked Whitney Wolf defeating Audrey Wooland 6-3, 6-3. LSU's Nicole Kantor knocked off Julie Mazinova 6-0, 6-0. LSU's Keri Frankenberger beat Briggitt Marcovich 7-6 (7-0), 6-2. Kaitlin Burns took out. Milou Israel 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 10-8. Hannah Robinson overtook Mia Gordon 6-1, 6-4. Kylie Adamek was victorious over Tara Vasovic 6-4, 6-2.

In doubles it was Frankenberger and Wolf who beat Mazinova and Marcovich 8-6. Burns and Kantor took out Gordon and Wooland 8-2 and Dufrene and Israel fell to Robinson and Wilson 9-8 (7-3).

The Cajuns will return to action Feb. 4 at home as they host Nicholls State at 3 p.m.
