Louisiana Drops Match to No. 42 FIU

The 42nd-ranked Golden Panthers (13-5) scored the first four points of the dual match, claiming the victory with three singles matches left to be played.
FIU made a clean sweep of the doubles matches to bring a 1-0 lead over
UL's only wins of the afternoon came from the number two and five court in singles play. Julie Mazinova defeated FIU's Maria Spenceley 6-3, 6-3 and Marina Ruiz de Gauna defeated FIU's Megan Jones 6-2, 4-6, 10-6.
Mazinova collected her ninth straight victory in singles action and improved to 9-0 at No. 2 singles.
FIU clinched the match when No. 90 Mariana Muci defeated Milou Israel 6-1, 6-0. That gave the hosts a 4-0 lead. Mazinova and Ruiz de Gauna were the next two to finish in singles play and their back-to-back wins cut the FIU lead to 4-2.
FIU was the fifth Sun Belt opponent the Cajuns have played this season. The loss drops the Cajuns to 3-2 against SBC teams.
