LAFAYETTE-Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team dropped the final home game of the 2008-09 season to Troy on Wednesday night by a final score of 93-52 at historic Earl K. Long Gym.

The loss was the worst home loss for Louisiana since Nov. 26, 2000, when UL fell 101-56 to Big XII power Baylor.

The Cajuns trailed by 15 at intermission and saw the Trojans open the second half with a 21-to-2 run that Louisiana could not overcome.

UL was led offensively by Jasmine Barnes and Alexis Green.  Barnes netted a team-best 12 points, while Green scored 10.  For Green, the double-digit scoring effort was her 24th of the season.

Becky Hall and Amy Richard both set season highs with seven points each.

Green led the Cajuns with five rebounds, while Valanette Amie, Barnes, Mercedes Johnson and Richard each had four boards apiece.

Troy had four players in double figures, led by Kylie Morrissy who had 20.  Alyce Shearing had 18 points, while Brittnie Davis and Donette McNair added 11 and 10, respectively.

The two teams opened up the game and battled nearly even for the first five minutes of the game.  With 14:20 remaining in the first half, Troy made a basket to give the visitors a 13-8 lead.

Richard cut the margin to just three with a pair of shots from the charity stripe, but a Trojan layup pushed their advantage back up to five points.  Richard once again converted a free throw to trim the margin to just four, but back-to-back triples by Shearing put the Cajuns behind 21-11.

A triple by Hall narrowed the deficit to seven, but another trey by Shearing extended the Trojans' lead back to double-digits.

Trailing by 13, the Cajuns used a 6-to-0 run to trim the deficit.  D'Mya Clay made a jumper to start the mini-run.  Green drained a three and made a free throw to cut the lead to 33-26 with four and a half minutes to play in the first stanza.

Ten straight points by the Trojans over the next three minutes put the Cajuns down by 17 (43-26).

A basket by Clay just before half saw Louisiana go into the locker room trailing 43-28.

Troy took a commanding lead in the second half as they used a 21-to-2 run to gain control of the game.  The run started with nine straight points by the Trojans before the Cajuns made a basket.  However, the visitors rattled off 12 straight points to increase their lead to 64-30 with 13:28 remaining in the game.

The Trojans built their lead up to as many as 43 before claiming the 93-52 victory.

The Ragin' Cajuns conclude the regular season on Saturday night at they travel to Little Rock, Ark. to take on Sun Belt Conference Western Division leader UALR.  Tip-off with the Trojans is slated for 5:00 p.m.
