Golf Second at All-American Intercollegiate

HOUSTON, Texas-Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns golf team put up back-to-back solid rounds on the first day of the All-American Intercollegiate and after two rounds, the Cajuns are five strokes back of the lead in second place. 

 

The Cajuns opened the day with a first round team score of 298.  Their 10-over par performance in the opening round put Louisiana in a tie for fourth place.  After the first round, UL was just four strokes back of the lead. 

 

In the afternoon round, Louisiana shaved 14 strokes off of their team score to finish round two with a 284.  The Cajuns moved into second place just five strokes back of tournament leader Middle Tennessee. 

 

The Ragin' Cajuns placed all five golfers in the top 30, including a pair of golfers in the top 5. 

 

The Cajuns were led by freshman Philipp Fendt.  The rookie finished the day at even par to tie for third place.  In his first round, Fendt finished with a two-over par 74.  The freshman shaved four strokes off of his afternoon round for a two-under par round of 70. 

 

Senior Devin Carrey finished one stroke back of Fendt to tie for fifth place.  Carrey was solid in both rounds carding an opening round of one over par, 73, before signing a scorecard of even par, 72, in the afternoon. 

 

Two shots back of Carrey was Thomas Petts.  After shooting an opening round of 75, Petts shot even par in the second round to finish day one with a three-over par 147 to finish the day in a tie for 11th.

 

Making the biggest move of the day was Dustin Petit.  The senior shot a seven-over par round of 79.  In his afternoon round, Petit cut nine strokes off of his round to card a two-under par round of 70.  His two-round score of 149 was good enough to finish in a tie for 19th.

 

Rounding out the scoring for the Cajuns was Kyle Pritchard.  The junior shot a four-over par round of 76 and an afternoon round of 75 to finish with a two-round score of 151.  Pritchard's performance put the golfer in a tie for 30th.

 

The Ragin' Cajuns conclude play at the All-American Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
