Cajuns Ready for Some Football

The team will begin practice on Monday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. The team will practice in shorts for 10 periods, concluding prior to 6 p.m.
Head coach Rickey Bustle enters his seventh year in Cajun Country in 2008. He returns the nation's seventh rated rushing attack from 2007, led by a pair of 1,000-yard rushers in quarterback Michael Desormeaux and tailback Tyrell Fenroy.
Desormeaux led the Sun Belt in rushing yards per game (123.2) in SBC games and finished second in overall rushing yards. He became the 24th QB in NCAA history to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season and finished with the 20th most rushing yards by a QB in a single season in NCAA history.
“There is a lot of excitement around here,” said Desormeaux following Sunday's team meeting. “You should have seen how hard the guys worked this summer.
“We believe.”
A rigorous camp full of academic sessions, video study, weight training and practice follows for the next 17 days. Fall camp will conclude with a scrimmage on Wednesday, August 20. The team will break camp and begin game-week preparations for the opener at
Acadiana is invited to attend the Cajuns Annual Fall Sports Fan Day on Sunday, August 10 at 6pm at Cajun Field. A record crowd turned out to last season's event and the athletic department has more in store for this season's Fan Day.
