MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala.-Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men's golf team faltered in the final round of the Sun Belt Conference Championship and dropped to fifth place for the tournament.  Despite the final round, senior Michael Smith (Lafayette, La.) was voted All-Sun Belt by the league coaches.

The Cajuns golfers turned in a team score of 294 (+6) in the final round of competition to drop from second place to fifth place.

Denver, who claimed the second round lead, held on to win the tournament by one stroke over second place New Orleans.  UNO and Western Kentucky both turned in eight under par performances to leap over the Cajuns.  The Privateers finished second while the Hilltoppers finished in fourth place, one stroke behind South Alabama.  The Jaguars turned in a four under par team score to pass UL in the final round.

Leading the way for Louisiana was Devin Carrey (South Surrey, British Columbia, Canada).  The junior turned in a four over par round of 76 to finish the tournament at three under par.  His sub-par performance was good enough for a tie for 10th place.

Kyle Pritchard (San Antonio, Texas) finished the tournament at one under par for a 14th place finish.  Pritchard had a round of one over par, 73, in the finale for an overall score of 215.

Senior Morgan Landry (Lafayette, La.) saved his best round for last.  He carded a two-under par round of 70 to jump into a tie for 26th.  The sub-par round marked the first time in his four-year career that he turned in a round below par in the conference championship.

Rounding out the scoring for the Cajuns was Smith and Dustin Petit (Luling, La.).  Smith turned in his second consecutive round of 75 to finish the tournament at five over par in a tie for 29th.  Petit finished the tournament with a round of 77 to close out the championship with 38th place finish.
