Aggies Silence the Cajuns Bats Again

The Aggies had to come through the loser's bracket after losing to the Cajuns Saturday night, and defeated
Thebeau (3-5) came right at the Cajuns all night and didn't walk a batter. He allowed seven hits, all singles and retired the side in order in six of the nine innings.
Texas A&M got all the runs they would need in the second inning off of Cajuns' starter Buddy Glass (7-5). Craig Stinson led off the inning with his 12th homerun of the year. After Luke Anders struck out, Brian Ruggiano tripled and was bunted home by Ben Feltner to make the score 2-0. Parker
The Cajuns finally got something going with two outs in the third. After the first eight Cajuns were retired, Devon Bourque reached on an error by Ruggiano at third. Xavier Alexander's infield single put runners at first and second. Bourque scored on Nolan Gisclair's single to make it 4-1, while Jonathan Lucroy singled to plate Alexander. After three complete, the Cajuns had cut the lead in half at 4-2.
Matt Pilgreen came on to pitch for the Cajuns in the third and turned in his second solid outing of the regional, with six solid innings, allowing one run on four hits. His only blemish came in the seventh with Colligan tripled with one out and scored on Blake Stouffer's single. Stouffer was named the regional's Most Outstanding Player.
The Cajuns had two other chances, including the firth when Van de Keere and Bourque led off with back to back singles. But Alexander flied to right and Gisclair popped to short. Van de Keere tried to advance to third when the ball got away from Hicks, but second baseman Parker Dalton's perfect throw to third ended the inning.
In the eighth, Bourque and Alexander led off with singles and Gisclair's grounder put runners at second and third with one out. But Thebeau struck out Lucroy and Scott Hawkins to turn the Cajuns away again.
Thebeau struck out the side in the ninth to nail down the victory.
Pilgreen, Bourque and Gisclair were the Cajuns named to the All-tournament team.
The Cajuns close their season at 45-17, the second time in three seasons that they have had 45 or more victories.
