AVONDALE, La.-Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns B.C. Thibeaux led after two rounds, but fell by one stroke at the Louisiana Golf Association Amateur Championship at the TPC of Louisiana in Avondale, La.

Chris Wells of Baton Rouge took home the crown by shooting a two-over par 74 and finishing with a total of two-over par 290.

Thibeaux chased Wells down the stretch only to finish in a tie for second. He made the turn at two-under in good position, but lost a few shots on the back nine that kept him from the lead.

Thibeaux led with five holes to go at the par-72 course.  He made a costly bogey on the 16th hole.  Despite the bogey, Thibeaux was still in contention, but missed an eight-foot birdie putt on the final hole that would have forced a playoff.

“I feel like I played real patient and smart all week,” Thibeaux said of his performance.  “I stuck to my game plan, which was to just keep the ball in play and make lots of putts.”

For the tournament, Thibeaux shot 73, 70, 76 and 72 for a final score of three-over par.

The top 40 and ties will be exempt into the field of the 2008 Championship.
