Louisiana's 22nd ranked Ragin' Cajuns celebrated Senior Day in style on Wednesday, as they swept a doubleheader with Nicholls State.  The Cajuns scored an 8-0 six-inning, run-rule win in game one and a 9-0 six-inning run-rule win in game two. Brittany Cuevas pitched both games for the Cajuns, pitching a total of 12 innings and giving up a total of six hits.  Cuevas struck out seven Colonels in game one and 12 more in game two.  The 12 strikeouts tied a season high for Cuevas.

Seniors Desi Chatman, Tara Hamilton, and Lacey Bertucci made their final regular season appearance at Lamson Park. Chatman had three hits, four RBI, and a home run in the doubleheader.  Hamilton had two hits and an RBI, and Bertucci added a hit and RBI.

With the two wins, Cuevas picked up her 28th and 29th wins of the season against seven losses.  Her 29 wins is the most by a freshman pitcher in Ragin' Cajuns history.  Krystalin Ensminger took the game one loss for Nicholls State and falls to 12-14 overall.  Jessica Barksdale was the game two loser and is now 6-7 overall.

Louisiana improves to 44-13 overall with the doubleheader sweep and NSU falls to 26-26.

In game one, Louisiana started off the scoring in the bottom of the second inning with a two out rally.  Hamilton singled and Meagan Godwin followed with a base on balls.  With two out and runners on first and second, Lana Bowers doubled down the left field line scoring Hamilton and the Cajuns led 1-0.  Vallie Gaspard's infield single scored Godwin from third and the Cajuns enjoyed a 2-0 lead.

UL increased their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the third as Holly Tankersley led off with a double down the left field line and advance to third on a Bertucci ground out.  Tankersley scored on a Chatman single to right field and scored from first as Hamilton doubled to left center.

The Cajuns added three runs in the bottom of the fourth and led 7-0 at the end of four.  Bowers and Tankersley singled in the inning and Melissa Verde added a two-run single for Louisiana.

A Bertucci RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning scored pinch runner Shari Sigur from third and UL had the 8-0 run-rule victory.

In game two, the Cajuns broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning on a Tankersley two-out solo home run, her 16th of the season.  At the end of three UL led 1-0.

The Cajuns bats came alive in the bottom of the fifth as they pushed across five runs to take a 6-0 lead.  Jessica Lemoine led off with a base on balls, followed by Gaspard and Hubbard bunt singles to load the bases.  Bertucci's sacrifice fly made it 2-0 and Chatman followed with her 9th home run of the season, a three run blast, making the score 5-0. Verde made it back-to-back round trippers with her 8th home run of the season and UL led 6-0 at the end of five innings.

Louisiana added three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the 9-0 run rule victory.  Gaspard and Hubbard had bunt singles in the inning and Tankersley's two run single ended the game.

Tankersley had four hits and three RBI, with a double and a home run in the doubleheader.  Gaspard added three hits and an RBI, Verde two hits with a home run and three RBI, Bowers two hits and an RBI, and Hubbard had two hits in the doubleheader, as the Cajuns had 19 total hits.

UL will complete the regular season as they travel to take on Louisiana-Monroe in their final Sun Belt Conference series of the season.  A Louisiana sweep this weekend and one win by South Alabama over Troy would give the Cajuns the title and the number one seed in next week's Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The Cajuns and Warkhawks will play a doubleheader beginning at 1:00pm on Saturday afternoon and complete the series with a single game on Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm.
