Cajuns Fall in Regular Season Finale

NEW ORLEANS-Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns baseball team concluded the 2007 regular season with a 9-3 loss to in-state and conference rival
The loss dropped the Cajuns to 40-14 on the season with a 23-7 mark in Sun Belt Conference play.
The Cajuns surrendered three runs in the bottom of the first inning and would get no closer than 4-3. A four-run inning broke the game open for the Privateers who finished the game with a six-run victory.
Of the nine runs the Cajuns surrendered, only six of the runs were earned as the Ragin' Cajuns committed five errors in the game. The last time the Cajuns committed five errors was in a 12-6 loss to Middle Tennessee on March 17.
Offensively, the Cajuns collected 11 hits on the afternoon, including a homerun. Nine different UL players collected hits in the game with two batters collecting multiple hits on the day.
Nolan Gisclair hit a two-run homer in the top of the third inning to pull the Cajuns to within one of the hosts. The homerun was Gisclair's 11th of the season and 10th in Sun Belt play. Gisclair also added a single for his 20th multi-hit game of the season
Jonathan Lucroy added a pair of hits in the game including a double. The game was the junior's team-leading 29th multiple hit game of the year.
UNO was the first to score, as they put up three runs in the first inning. A lead off triple gave the Privateers a runner in scoring position right out of the gate. The Cajuns responded in the third inning. A one-out single by Devon Bourque got things started for UL. A groundout moved Bourque into scoring position. With two outs, Gisclair delivered a two-run homerun to left field to pull the Cajuns within one at 3-2.
The Privateers added a run in the bottom of the third inning. A pair of single sandwiched around a strikeout, gave UNO a pair of runners on the corners. A sacrifice fly plated the runner and gave
UL got the run back in the top of the fourth inning. Jefferies Tatford led off the fourth with a single. He came around to score as Matt Casbon delivered a one-out double down the left field line cutting the UNO lead to 4-3.
The Cajuns would get no closer as the Privateers would go on to add five more runs and claim the six-run victory.
In the seventh inning, pair of hits helped the Privateers plate the final run of the afternoon and gave UNO their final margin of victory at 9-3.
