Miss. State Tennis Hands Cajuns First Loss

The loss drops the Cajuns to 7-1 on the season.
The only singles win of the afternoon came from Myrthe Molenveld at the No. 3 position. Molenveld defeated MSU's Daniela Juskova 6-2, 6-1.
Martina Banikova triumphed over Tammy Day 7-6(2), 4-6, 1-0(6) at No. 1, while Chanell Meijer dropped her match to Elna de Villiers 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 2 position. Meijers' loss clinched the match for the Bulldogs.
Laura Martelli was defeated by Renee Joseph 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot, and Angela Dangond fell to Valeriya Makarycheva 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5. MSU's Tatiana Feit defeated Clemence Remy 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6.
The Bulldogs secured the doubles point after winning at Nos. 2 and 3. The team of Day and Meijer captured the only Cajuns' victory in doubles action. The pair defeated Banikova and Makarycheva 8-7(3) at No. 1.
Molenveld and Remy fell to Villiars and DeAndra Saddler 8-4 at the No. 2 spot, and Dangond and Martelli dropped their match to Joseph and Juskova 8-4 at No. 3.
The Cajuns return to action Friday, March 2 to take on Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond, La. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m.
