Louisiana (2-2) was defeated at Eastern Michigan (0-5) last season by a final score of 31-10.
Louisiana used the pass to set-up the run, rolling to 367 yards of total offense and a 30-0 lead after three quarters.
Quarterback Jerry Babb completed 17-of-21 passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns and running back Tyrell Fenroy had 15 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown. Both played only three quarters.
The 100-yard game is the second straight this season for Fenroy and seventh in the sophomore's career, tying him with Kenyon Cotton for the Cajuns all-time mark of 100-yard games by a running back.
The Cajuns won the toss and elected to receive, but a quick three-and-out gave the ball to EMU near midfield. The Eagles traveled to the Cajuns 31-yard line, but were knocked out of field goal range by a third down sack courtesy of Marshall Delesdernier.
Louisiana took over and moved 65 yards on eight plays for the first touchdown of the game. UL ran six times on the drive, five of which were runs for seven yards or more. Babb, Chester Johnson, Fenroy and Michael Desormeaux each had long runs before Babb scored his third rushing touchdown of the season with a nine-yard run at 7:10 of the first quarter.
The Cajuns next possession found the end zone again. UL traveled 77 yards in eight plays ending when Babb hit Jason Chery with a 38-yard touchdown pass to put the Cajuns ahead 14-0 with 2:11 remaining in the first quarter.
UL increased their lead in the second quarter. Pinned at the three-yard line, the Cajuns pieced together a nine-play, 97-yard drive for another touchdown.
The drive was aided by a 32-yard jaunt from Fenroy, who amassed 47 yards rushing on the series.
Babb completed three passes of 10 yards or more on the drive, including a 17-yard touchdown pass to Chery on fourth-and-five.
The extra point was blocked giving the Cajuns a 20-0 advantage with just under five minutes remaining in the first half.
The touchdown moved Babb into a third place tie with Jon Van Cleave on the Cajuns all-time record for career touchdown passes.
Chery ended the game with five receptions for 93 yards and two scores.
UL tacked on three points as the first half expired. Drew Edmiston split the uprights on a 44-yard field goal to enter intermission with the Cajuns leading 23-0.
The second half began with the Cajuns defense holding the Eagles to their third three-and-out of the game. UL proceeded to move 55 yards in five plays for their fourth TD of the afternoon. Babb started the drive with a 15-yard completion to Chery. Fenroy followed with carries on three of the next four plays totaling 36 yards, including a three-yard touchdown run. The extra point increased the Cajuns lead to 30-0.
On Eastern Michigan's fourth drive of the second half, the Cajuns' Gerren Blount forced a fumble that Tre' Green recovered at the 16-yard line.
Working with a short field, the Cajuns were unable to move the ball and settled for an Edmiston 40-yard field goal to take a 33-0 lead. The field goal was Edmiston's second of the game, marking the first time Edmiston has hit multiple field goals in a game.
