The Cajuns ground game got back on track, as UL rushed for 330 yards on 46 carries (7.2ypc). Tyrell Fenroy led the charge with 104 yards on 14 carries ? his sixth career 100-yard game.
UL used its special teams to get on the board early.
The Aggies gained at least four yards on four straight plays to open the game, but a false start penalty killed their drive. The ensuing punt was blocked by the Cajuns Jason Chery. Johnny Felders returned the ball 18 yards into the end zone for a touchdown. The point after was unsuccessful, giving the Cajuns a 6-0 lead just 4:14 into the game.
Louisiana started their next drive at the 36-yard line and marched 64 yards on 12 plays. The first 10 plays were all rushes before Jerry Babb threw a four-yard scoring pass to Corey Fredrick.
The Cajuns built their lead to 20-0 with a five-play, 45-yard drive. Fenroy rushed two times on the drive for 36 yards, while Babb completed a five-yard pass and scored on a four-yard run.
Chester Johnson scored his first touchdown since Nov. 5, 2004 with a seven-yard scamper to pull the Cajuns in front 27-0. His run capped a 12-play, 80-yard drive that consumed 6:14 of the second quarter. UL ran the ball 10 times on the drive for 68 yards, led by Josh Harrison's five carries for 37 yards.
The Aggies took over on the 14-yardline and on third-and-three, quarterback Herbert Miller fumbled the ball which Felders recovered for the Cajuns. Felders returned the ball to the eight-yard line and a penalty moved the ball up to the four. Fenroy took the handoff up the middle and walked into the end zone untouched on the next play to give UL a 34-0 lead at the half.
Louisiana made it 41-0 with their first possession of the third quarter. On third-and-six from the Cajuns 24-yard line, Babb completed a 53-yard pass to Jason Chery. Babb then broke a 10-yard run, followed by a 13-yard scoring run ? his second rushing touchdown of the game.
Deon Wallace broke a 45-yard touchdown run at the end of the third quarter ? his first career touchdown ? to boost the Cajuns lead to 48-0.
