Sunday's NFCA Leadoff Classic Schedule Revised

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The 14th-ranked Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns softball team will return to action here in the NFCA Leadoff Classic on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 9 a.m. (CST) against No. 2 Tennessee (10-0) as tournament play resumes.
As of press time, UL (13-0) is also scheduled to meet Florida (11-5) at 1 p.m. (CST) in its tournament finale, depending on field conditions at the South Commons Complex.
Rains blanketed
the Columbus, Ga., area Saturday, forcing the
cancellation of the day's action at the NFCA Leadoff
Classic. UL and Tennessee were scheduled to meet at 9
a.m. (CST) on Saturday.
The rain should be cleared of the area by early Sunday
morning, so the schedule for Sunday's game has been
revised with two different formats.
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association will determine which format will be used at 7 a.m. EST, on Sunday.
The first format guarantees each team would play two games, with play taking place on all eight fields at the South Commons Stadium and Complex. Under this format the Cajuns would meet Tennessee (Field 3) and Florida (Stadium Field) at 9 a.m. (CST) and 1 p.m. (CST), respectively.
The optional format would give each team one game, with the opponent being the originally scheduled foe from Saturday's pool play conclusion that was washed out – UL vs. Tennessee. The Cajuns and Vols would then play at 10 a.m. (CST) and that would conclude UL's stay in the tournament.
No. 14 Louisiana-Lafayette is attempting to tie the school record for best undefeated start (14-0 in 1993). At 13-0, the Ragin' Cajuns are off to the second-best undefeated start and best start under co-head coaches Stefni and Michael Lotief.
No. 14 Louisiana-Lafayette opened Leadoff Classic play on Friday, Feb. 24 with victories over Florida State (14-0 in 5 inn.) and Iowa (6-0). The Ragin' Cajuns are one of nine teams that are 2-0 out of the 24-team field.
