Cajuns Drop Final Home Game to ULM

The win improves ULM to 4-8 (3-4), while the loss drops the Cajuns to 6-6 (3-4). The preseason pick to win the Sun Belt, the Cajuns finish sixth in the SBC.
A pair of rushing touchdowns by Tyrell Fenroy put the Cajuns ahead 14-13 after the first quarter, but ULM won the game with a 20-point second quarter.
The Warhawks used a 41-yard field goal by Cole Wilson to take a 16-14 lead.
ULM then upped their lead to 23-14 following Josh Thompson's first interception. The visitors traveled 48 yards in just three plays, scoring on an 18-yard rush by Calvin Dawson.
The Cajuns began a 15-play, 64-yard march from their three-yard line, but turned the ball over on downs after failing to convert on fourth-and-three from the ULM 35-yard line. Earlier in the drive, Jerry Babb ran for five yards on fourth-and-one from the Cajuns 27-yard line.
The Warhawks made the Cajuns pay, scoring on a 64-yard pass from Kinsmon Lancaster to LaGregory Sapp. The touchdown gave ULM a 30-14 lead.
ULM added three more points to build a 33-14 lead at the half. Wilson converted a 44-yard field goal following a 32-yard interception return by Thompson.
Dawson finished the game with 129 yards rushing, besting Fenroy's 118 yards to win the Sun Belt's rushing title by 13 yards. Fenroy did finish as the rushing champion in Sun Belt only games, gaining 804 yards on 154 carries against ?Belt foes.
The Cajuns lost their first game when Fenroy rushed for at least 100 yards. UL was 10-0 when their 1,000-yard running back hit 100 yards in a game.
A 46-yard kickoff return gave the Warhawks field position inside Cajuns territory to open the game. ULM needed five plays to travel 45 yards to take a 7-0 lead. Lancaster found Joe Merritt with a 24-yard touchdown pass giving ULM the early lead.
The Cajuns moved near midfield on their opening possession, but UL's drive stalled after three dropped passes.
The ensuing punt by Brit Framel was muffed by Kevin Payne at the 17-yard line. Michael Schultz recovered for the Cajuns, giving the hosts the ball inside the ULM red zone.
Fenroy needed two rushes to find the end zone. His 14-yard touchdown run tied the game at 7-7 with 8:18 remaining
The Warhawks needed only 2:34 to regain the lead. Dawson capped a 6-play, 75-yard drive with a 36-yard touchdown. ULM led 13-7 after Wilson's extra point attempt was blocked by Korey Raymond.
Louisiana responded with a 13-play, 59-yard scoring drive to take a 14-13 lead. The Cajuns converted a pair of third downs and a fourth-and-one from midfield on the drive. Babb completed three passes for 27 yards and Fenroy added four rushes for 24 yards including a three-yard run on fourth down and a two-yard touchdown plunge.
