Unlike Last Season, Red Takes 3-0 Victory over White

Saturday, March 19, 2005

LAFAYETTE - On a balmy Saturday afternoon, the difference between the Red team and the White team was the leg of Sean Comiskey. A 22 yard field goal, with 7:40 left in the 4th quarter proved to be the winning margin.

Momentum swayed both ways all afternoon. After a booming David Schexnayder punt pinned the Red team inside the 10 yard line, quarterback Jerry Babb marched the Red team to the White team's 44 yard line, where he would be picked off by Torres Kingsby of the white team.

Similar to the drive by the Red team, quarterback Michael Desormeaux would lead the White team down the field and inside the Red's 20 yard line. The drive stalled, and a 34 yard Drew Edmiston field goal would sail wide left.

An exchange of punts would ensue and Babb would once again lead the Red team down the field, where he accounted for 22 of his 44 yards rushing. As the first half ended, a 51 yard Sean Comiskey field goal would fall short.

The Red team got the ball back after halftime, and would practice ball control. Babb would hand off the ball to running backs Caleb Rubin, Justin Venable and Abdule Levier as the Red team took control of the game, holding the ball the entire 3rd quarter. Stalling at the four yard line, Comiskey would hit the field goal and seal the deal for the Red team.

The stout Red defense, led by Tre' Green and Eugene Kwarteng would withstand a late flurry by the white team.
