LAFAYETTE – Brooke Mitchell tossed her second no-hitter of the week and seventh of her career in leading No. 10 Louisiana-Lafayette to a 1-0 victory over Missouri in game 11 of the 1st Annual Louisiana's Mardi Gras Classic.

Mitchell went the distance striking out 12 of the 21 batters that she faced over seven innings.

Earlier this week, the Pasadena, Texas, native tossed a no-no at Nicholls State on Wednesday, Feb. 18.

Her double-digit strikeout total is her ninth (9th) this season in 10 appearances. For the tournament she has 42 strikeouts over 21 innings and has walked just one. For the season she has 126 strikeouts.

The Cajuns lone run of the game came on a infield grounder from Tiffany Hebert with two outs in the top of the seventh. Hebert slapped a hard grounder at MU pitcher Erin Kalka which deflected off of her and into the glove of third baseman Kendra Power.

Power attempted to gun down Hebert at first, but the throw went wild and down the right field line allowing pinch runner Michelle Bergeaux to score the winning run.

Lacey Bertucci singled up the middle to get the Cajuns rally started and was replaced by Bergeaux on first base. Bertucci's hit was the lone of the game between the two teams.

The Tigers lone baserunner came in the third inning when Ashley Hays reached on a fielding error by UL Lafayette's Brittany Bryant.

After that, Mitchell retired the Tigers final 12 batters in order.

The win extended the Ragin' Cajuns season-high win streak to 10 games and home win streak to 30 dating back to last season.

UL Lafayette is now 4-0 in tournament action and can clinch the title with a Stephen F. Austin loss to Texas Tech in Saturday's finale at 10 p.m.

The Cajuns will face Stephen F. Austin at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the tournament's final game.

MU fell to 1-3 in tournament play and will close out its stay in Lafayette at 10 a.m., against Prairie View.
