Demons End Cajuns' Two-Match Winning Streak 4-3

NATCHITOCHES-Entering with a season-high two-match winning streak, Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team was unable to extend it to three matches, falling 4-3 to Northwestern State here Saturday afternoon.
The loss drops the Cajuns to 6-12 overall, while the Demons improve to 14-4.
Three freshmen were victorious in singles play for the Cajuns. Celine VanWeydeveld defeated Eliza Young 7-5, 7-5 at the No. 1 spot, while Cecilia Varela picked her 10th victory of the season with a 6-1, 6-0 defeat of Magali VandenBergh.
Shreveport native Kimmie Lyles extended her win streak to three matches with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Alexandra Nieto.
Susan Linden and Thais Bortoletto both lost their singles matches in straight sets, while Northwestern State's Camila Prado needed three sets to defeat Sophie Cerbon 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.
In doubles, Lyles and Varela won their third straight with an 8-5 victory over Young and Catalina Villegas. Northwestern State took the remaining two matches to capture the doubles point.
Louisiana-Lafayette will close out the 2004 regular season Sunday when they face Lamar University in a 2 p.m. match at Beaumont, Texas.
