Texas Tech Run-Rules SLU In Five Innings

LAFAYETTE – Texas Tech pounded out 12 hits en route to an 8-0 mercy-rule win over Southeastern Louisiana here Friday afternoon in game three of the 1st Annual Louisiana Classics at Ragin' Cajuns Softball Park.

Natalie Enderlin and Elyssa Sigala each had three hits to pace the Lady Raiders offensive attack. Enderlin drove in a team-best three runs.

In the circle, Keely Tucker shut down the Lions offense giving up just three hits over five innings.

TTU (4-9) struck for two runs in the second inning off of four hits.

Britney Stolle drove a one-out double into left field for the Raiders first hit of the game. She would then advance to third on a fielder's choice grounder by Heather Parker. Stolle beat out the force attempt at third to give TTU runners on first and third.

Parker would then steal second and as the throw went down to second Stolle reached home on the throw for a 1-0 lead.

After Natalie Kula struck out looking, Ashley Parker laid down a bunt single that advanced Heather Parker to third. Parker would then score on a RBI single into right field by Enderlin for a 2-0 lead.

Texas Tech blew open the game with a four-spot off of five hits and two SLU errors in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Lady Raiders ended the game early with two more runs in the fifth inning to create the final margin of 8-0.

Kula led off the inning reaching on an error by SLU shortstop Michelle Lemons. She moved over to second on a groundout by Ashley Parker.

Enderlin would then drive in her third run of the contest on the next at bat giving TTU a 7-0 lead.

Sigala followed Enderlin's RBI single with a double into the right center field gap to score Enderlin with the eighth and final run.

Tucker (2-3) picked up the win for the Lady Raiders while Emily Stelly (1-4) suffered the loss for SLU.

Stelly gave up five hits and two runs over two innings before being lifted in the third inning.

Texas Tech, 1-0 so far in tournament action, wraps up play on day one at 8:15 p.m. against host-UL Lafayette (8-1).

Southeastern Louisiana (4-9) is done for day one and finished with a split. The Lady Lions open play on day two tomorrow at 9 a.m. against Prairie View.
