Cajuns Tennis Breaks Into National Rankings
LAFAYETTE – For the first time in over a year, Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team is ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings. The Cajuns are ranked No. 57.
The ranking is the first for the Cajuns since February 13, 2002, when UL Lafayette was ranked No. 75.
“I am very proud of the guys and I think the win over Northwestern propelled us into the rankings,” said UL Lafayette head coach Justin McGrath.“It's great to be ranked No. 57, but it is how we finish the season that really counts.”
Senior Jakub Ilowski moved 14 spots to No. 48 in this week's rankings. Ilowski (9-2) had his nine-match winning streak snapped Tuesday during UL Lafayette's 6-1 victory over New Mexico State.
Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team returns to action Friday, April 4, when they travel to New Orleans to face Conference USA rival Tulane in a 4 p.m. dual match at Goldring Tennis Stadium.
