CAJUNS ANNOUNCE FOOTBALL SCHEDULE CHANGES

LAFAYETTE – The University of Louisiana at Lafayette announced on Friday two game time changes for the upcoming 2002 football season.? The reason for the time changes is because ESPN Regional Television will televise the games as part of the Sun Belt Conference's television package.

The Cajuns home game on Sept. 21 against UAB will now be a 6 PM CST start.? UL Lafayette will enjoy an 11 AM CST kick-off at Middle Tennessee on Oct. 19.

The Sun Belt Conference announced on Thursday that Comcast Sports Southeast was the first affiliate to sign-on to the SBC-ESPN Regional Television football television network.? CSS serves 3.1 million cable television households in nine southeastern states.

“Although CSS is not broadcast in Louisiana, its exposure is great for the conference,” said UL Lafayette athletics director Nelson Schexnayder.? “I hope an agreement can be reached here locally to broadcast all seven of the Sun Belt TV games.”

Conference officials have stated that clearances in additional markets are currently being negotiated, and it is expected that the Sun Belt games will be shown in each league market. Also, select games will be available on ESPN GamePlan, ESPN's out-of-market college football pay-per-view package.
