CAJUNS' FRANKLIN DRAFTED BY CAROLINA IN NFL DRAFT

LAFAYETTE –Former Louisiana-Lafayette cornerback Brad Franklin was drafted on Sunday by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round, 258th overall, in the 2002 NFL Draft held in New York.

Franklin, a four-year letter winner for the Ragin' Cajuns, played in 42 games for Louisiana-Lafayette.? The Baton Rouge native finished his career with 107 total tackles, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries.? In the last home game of his collegiate career, Franklin returned a fumble 29 yards for a touchdown against New Mexico State.?

A talented man-to-man cover player, Franklin possesses blazing speed for a large cornerback, running the 40 in 4.4 seconds.
