CAJUN WOMEN'S TENNIS DEFEATED BY NORTH TEXAS

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's tennis team (5-6) suffered a 4-3 loss to Sun Belt Conference opponent North Texas on Easter Sunday.

The Cajuns fell early in the match when they lost the doubles point.

Vinca Rampen and Robin Singh suffered a 9-8(5) tiebreaker loss to Cathlerine Alain and Bettina Rettenmaier at No. 1 doubles.

At No. 2 doubles Amanda Cowieson and Amandine Hubert earned a 9-8(4) win over North Texas's duo of Beedy and Benita Bittner.

North Texas was able to clinch the doubles point with an 8-3 victory over Susan Linden and Fernanda Kompatscher at No. 3 doubles.

In singles Rampen earned the Cajuns' first point of the day with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Alain at No. 1 singles.

Hubert and Kompatscher were both defeated in two-set matches by Sandy Kanury and Natalie Clore at No. 2 and 3 singles.

The Cajuns' final points of the match came when Singh and Cowieson both earned tiebreaker victories over Bittner and Ashley Sammis at No. 4 and 5 singles.

At No. 6 singles Linden suffered a 6-1, 7-5 loss to Rettenmaier.

The Cajuns will be back in action Wednesday, Apr. 3 for a 1 p.m. matchup against Northwestern State in Natchitoches, La.
