Cajuns Fall to Oklahoma State

CAJUN MEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO OKLAHOMA STATE

HOUSTON, Texas – Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun men's tennis team (4-9) dropped a 4-1 match to Oklahoma State Friday morning in a tournament hosted by Rice.

Oklahoma State started strong with wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles to claim their first point of the match.

The Cajuns' Bobby Hawkins and Jakub Ilowski claimed an 8-3 win over Mike McCarty and Lonn Collins at No. 3 doubles.

In singles, Ilowski and Hawkins did not finish their matches at the first and last spots in the Cajun lineup.

At No. 2 singles Anthony Blache suffered a 6-4, 6-0 loss to Fran Kripelka.

Johann van der Westhuizen collected his eighth-straight defeat to Jini Jezek 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.

Michael Tarkowski picked up the Cajuns' only point of the match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 5 singles. Tarkowski has not been in the Cajuns' lineup since their Feb. 12 match up against 12th ranked Mississippi State when he suffered his only loss this season.

The Cajuns will return to action at 9 a.m. Saturday in Houston, Texas where they will take on Virginia Tech.

The Cajun women's tennis team will also be on the road Saturday at the University of Memphis. Play will begin at 11 a.m.
