WOMEN'S TENNIS DROPS TOUGH 4-3 MATCH TO TROY STATE
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana's
Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team suffered its second straight dual match loss
Sunday at Cajun Courts, dropping a 4-3 decision to Troy State.
??????????? The
Cajuns (3-3), playing their first match since March 2, fell behind early after
losing the doubles point. TSU claimed doubles with three straight 8-4 wins
through the lineup.
??????????? The
doubles point proved to be crucial as the two teams spilt singles 3-3.
??????????? Ariana
Uratani, Vinca Rampen and Robin Singh each picked up wins for the Cajuns.
Uratani downed
TSU's Luisa Lopez 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles slot.
The Cajuns took a
quick 2-0 lead in singles after Rampen picked up a 6-0, 6-1 straight set win
over TSU's Jayne Hutchinson.
??????????? The
Trojans (13-1) evened things up with wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 slots. Laura
Alancon then snuck past UL Lafayette's Susan Linden 6-1, 6-4 to seal the match
win for the Trojans in the No.6 spot. The Trojans have now won nine straight.
??????????? Louisiana-Lafayette
continues its current three-game homestand with a 1:30 p.m. match against
Louisiana Tech on Tuesday.
