Cajuns Knott Named Sun Belt Special Team Player of the Week

CAJUN WOMEN'S TENNIS SUFFER FIRST LOSS
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun women's tennis
team suffered their first upset of the spring season Thursday with a 6-1 loss
to New Orleans.
Arina Uratani, holding the No.1 spot in the singles
lineup, earned the Cajuns' sole point of the match with a 6-4, 7-5 win over
Laetitia Zameski.
After winning eleven straight matches, junior Vinca
Rampen gathered her first disappointment with a 6-4, 6-1 loss to Patricia
Osedumme.
Amanda Cowieson, Amandine Hubert and Kristen
McElligott also collected two-set losses at the next three spots in the Cajun
lineup.
In her first appearance with the Cajuns, Fernanda
Kompatscher suffered a 6-3, 6-1 loss to Inge Veerman at the No. 6 spot in the
lineup.
In doubles, Uratani and Rampen suffered an 8-4
defeat to Celine Azais and Osedumme.
The Privateers clinched the doubles point when
Zembski and Mazinova defeated Cowieson and Hubert 8-1 at the No. 1 doubles
spot.
Newcomers Kompatscher and Susan Linden also suffered
and 8-1 loss at the third spot in the Cajuns' doubles lineup.
The Cajuns will be back in action Saturday, February
16 when they host Nicholls State at 1:30 p.m. at Cajun Courts. The men's tennis
team will host New Mexico Saturday, February 9 at 1 p.m. at Cajun Courts.
