Monday, Oct. 21, 2002

MCKINNEY, Tx.
– Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns golf team continued their recent tournament struggles while shooting an opening round score of 303 and posting a second round score of 292 to place them in a tie for 12th place overall in the 14-team Stonebridge Invitational. The Cajuns (303-292, 595) trail tournament leader Baylor (283-286, 569) by 26 strokes going into Tuesday's final round.

A bright spot for the Cajuns is freshman golfer Peter Badawy who stands in a tie for 15th place after two rounds of action. The Virginia native recorded his first sub-par round as a Cajun in Monday's second round, posting a score of 70(-2) to go along with an opening round 75(+3). Badawy trails tournament leader Andrew Dahl of Arkansas by only six strokes going into the final round.

Other Cajun notables include Tobias Winberg (76-71,147) who is tied for 30th after one round, Theo Sliman (73-74, 147) also tied for 30th, and Marc Noel (81-77, 158) is tied for 71st. Doron Mommsen (79-81, 160) will try and improve on his 72nd place on Tuesday.

Also competing for the Cajuns only as an individual is junior Brett Ashmore (77-74, 151) who sits in a tie for 51st after the first day of competition.
