CAJUNS RECEIVE GENEROUS DONATION FROM ARDOIN & PFIZER

LAFAYETTE – On Friday, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette accepted a $10,000 cash donation by Ken Ardoin and Pfizer. The monetary contribution will go towards UL Lafayette's sports medicine and athletic programs.

Senator Mike Michot, State Representatives Ernie Alexander, Wilfred Peirre and Sydney Mae Durand and Leonard Kleinpeter, representing Lt. Govornor Kathleen Blanco's office, were on had to show their support. Ragin' Cajuns athletic director Nelson Schexnayder and athletic trainer John Porche accepted the donation.

"I love this university," said Ardoin. "It's a great university that needs help financially. Monetarily speaking, they have done so much with so little."

Ardoin is a 1965 graduate of Louisiana-Lafayette. He served as president of the Alumni Association from 1987-88.

"The schools growth is outstanding," Ardoin added. "Every coach that has been here has added something. It's like anything in life, you just keep building on what you have, and that's what we are doing now. We are excited about our new football staff and about some of the changes that are being made. The university is moving forward. Pfizer and myself wanted to be good corporate partners. I hope this kicks off and encourages others in the community and other corporations within the state to do the same."
