Steve Brackin

Brackin was the first USL freshman to make the All-GSC first team, earning the honor as a utility infielder in 1958. He then repeated in the outfield in 1959 and 1960. In 1960 he batted .514 in GSC games only, an all time record.
After his college career was over he signed with the Washington Senators pro baseball team, playing in their farm system four years.
A native of Scott and a graduate of Lafayette (Cathedral-Carmel), Brackin began his coaching career at Ville Platte (Sacred Heart) in 1962 and also coached at New Orleans (Rummel), USL (graduate assistant) and Cathedral-Carmel.
He was a retired Lafayette parish school teacher. Steve was married to Christine DeVille of Ville Platte. Steve and Tina had 3 children, Kyle (deceased), Chris and Kirk.
