Michael Allen (Basketball) – A three-year member and a two-time letterman of the USL basketball team from 1991-1994, Allen was named first-team All-Sun Belt Conference in 1993 and 1994. In 1994, he became the first Cajun player to be named the Sun Belt Player of the Year. Allen still ranks atop many of the schools individual and season records, including eighth in school history for most points scored in a career – 1,673 points in only three seasons. Allen played professionally and then continued sharing his passion as a high school basketball coach for many years, including four at his alma mater. Allen received his degree from USL in 1996, and is currently living in Lexington, Ky., where he works as a Youth Service Center Coordinator for the Fayette County Public School System.
