Two decades after final UL season, still ranks second in career batting average at .369 behind only Nathan Nelson …Led Cajuns in hitting in each of his two seasons in 2002 (.368) and 2003 (.371) … Also led team in home runs (9), RBI (56), hits (89), doubles (18) triples (7), and stolen bases (13) in final year in 2003, when he hit .427 in Sun Belt play (44 hits in 24 games with 17 extra-base hits and six homers) … Led team in 2002 in hits (85), triples (3) and stolen bases (24) along with average when he helped lead UL to 39-23 record and NCAA Baton Rouge Regional … Two-time All-Sun Belt first team as outfielder, two-time ABCA All-South Central pick and two-time All-Louisiana pick (2nd team 2002, 1st team 2003) … Also pitched, getting four saves and 3.38 ERA in final year … Fifth round pick of New York Mets and hit .304 in six-year minor league career mostly with Mets (Cubs system in final year in 2008), named to league All-Star team in 2006 with AA St. Lucie Mets … Returned after pro baseball career to earn UL degree.
