Darren Walker is in his 23rd year as the video coordinator for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns football program as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Video Operations. Walker is the longest tenured video coordinator in the Sun Belt Conference.
Walker manages the day-to-day operation of the football video department which includes providing practice, game, workout, opponent and NFL video to the Ragin’ Cajuns football staff and players. He also provides technical support and statistical analysis to the staff and produces motivational videos throughout the year. Walker oversees the Catapult Thunder video database that includes a library of practice, game and recruiting video that spans 12 years. He and his staff of student workers are also responsible for clock operation and music at practice.
During his tenure, Walker has worn several hats for Ragin’ Cajuns athletics, including hosting the “Inside Louisiana Athletics” television show, serving as the athletics department’s creative video in the early days of social media and producing in-game scoreboard videos for football.
Walker has been voted the Video Coordinator of the Year in the Sun Belt in three of the last five years, including last year.
A native of Chalmette, Louisiana, Walker graduated from Lynn Oaks High School and the University of Louisiana, earning a degree in Liberal Arts - Mass Communications from then-USL in 1996. Prior to joining the Ragin’ Cajuns program, Walker spent five years at KATC-TV, where he was a videographer, producer, sports reporter and anchor.
He is married to the former Michelle Ciaccio and they are the parents of two children, Hannah, a UL graduate and Vance, a current UL student.
