UL Soccer to Host Several Camps This Summer

LAFAYETTE – The Ragin' Cajuns soccer team is set to offer three different camps for the youth of Acadiana this summer, head coach Scot Wieland announced on Friday.
Two sets of day camps are being offered – from May 28-31 and July 9-12 – and are open to boys and girls ages 6-12.
The camps will last from 9:00 a.m.to 3:00 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, with Thursday running from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. The cost of the event will be $125 for campers that register before May 1.
The second camp being offered is an 8v8 camp held June 28-July 1. It will be tournament structured, with a pool play set up. Teams will consist of seven field players and a goal keeper and will be limited to 12 player rosters.
The price will be $250 if registered before May 1. This camp is aimed toward girls ages 13-18 and will begin on Thursday, June 28 at 4:00 p.m. and run through Sunday, July 1 at 12:00 p.m.
The final summer event will be a residential camp that is offered to girls ages 13-18 from July 19-22.
The residential camp will offer sessions designed to cater to the advance players as they will participate in 4v4 mid-day tournaments as well as an 11v11 game each evening. Overnight campers will be staying in the UL Residence Halls.
Cost for the residential camp is $225 for commuters and $325 for overnight campers if registered prior to May 1. The camp will run from Thursday at 3:00 p.m. to Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
A $25 discount will be given to families registering two or more children, while all participants are covered by a supplemental accident insurance policy.
The camps will be held on the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer Field, located within the UL Track/Soccer Complex, at the corner of Bertrand Drive and Reinhardt Drive and the Leon Moncla Indoor Practice Facility.
The instructors will be composed of the UL coaching staff, players and other college and university coaches and players.
