Meet the Cajuns: Men's Hoops Freshman Kasey Shepherd

LAFAYETTE - RaginCajuns.com unveiled a new series of videos on Friday with the first player profile featuring the newest members of Bob Marlin's Ragin' Cajuns basketball squad.

Cajun Nation video staffers met with freshman and Houston native Kasey Shepherd at the Leon Moncla Indoor Practice Facility on Friday, Nov. 2.

Shepherd comes to UL from Dekaney High School in Houston. Slated to open the season as the backup at point guard, he is capable of making a place for himself in the lineup at any guard position.

Shepherd was a first team all-district selection as a senior at Dekaney HS. He averaged 11.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.8 steals a game, shooting .750 from the line (33-44).

Born June 5, 1994 in Houston, Texas, he is the son of Jeffrey and Paula Shepherd. Kasey was a member of the National Honor Society in high school, graduating cum laude as a distinguised service graduate.

Kasey and the Cajuns are set to start the 2012-13 season with an exhibition contest against Loyola-New Orleans at the Cajundome on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Tipoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
