LAFAYETTE, La. – The Ragin' Cajuns soccer team wraps up the 2012 season on Friday, Oct. 26 as it hosts UL-Monroe at the Cajuns Track/Soccer Facility. The Warhawks provide the opposition for Senior Day and a Breast Cancer Awareness match slated to kick off at 3 p.m.
The UL players will wear pink in the match to raise awareness for breast cancer. The squad's uniforms will feature a pink Ragin' Cajuns logo and numerals. A silent auction of each player's worn jersey will be conducted at the main entrance.
UL will also honor its seven seniors - Amanda Moorefield, Erin Lynn, Gayla Foster, Melissa Minton, Kayla Henrie, Maci Andrus, and Delaina McGee – in a ceremony prior to the match.
The Cajuns (7-10-2, 1-6-2 SBC) are coming off a double overtime loss to Troy (1-0) and a draw against South Alabama (1-1) last weekend.
Sophomore midfielder Hayden Gibson continues to lead the Cajuns this season, posting five goals to go along with two assists for 12 points. Shelby Isley, Erin Lynn, and Elizabeth Manuel all rank second on the team with four goals each.
UL-Monroe (4-14-0, 1-8-0 SBC) enters the weekend right below UL in the Sun Belt Conference standings in 10th place following losses to South Alabama (4-0) and Troy (3-0) last weekend.
The Warhawks are led by freshman Karlea Fehr in virtually every offensive category, including goals (5), assists (5), points (15), and game-winning goals (2).
Louisiana (7-10-2, 1-6-2 SBC) won the battle 4-0 the last time these two teams met on Oct. 28, 2011. UL has never lost to the Warhawks at home and holds a 6-2-2 edge in the all-time series record.
Friday's match closes out the eighth season under the direction of head coach Scot Wieland.
