Inside The Birdcage - Loyalty is a Two-Way Street

In getting ready to write this piece, my memory went back to my first year in radio broadcasting. My boss was a man named Tom Voinche. No, not the guy who used to be on “Good Morning Acadiana.”
It was his dad.
Mr. Voinche was a very practical man. He was a man of great character. One day he wrote a memo and gave a copy to everyone. I don’t remember his exact words (that was a LONG time ago), but the gist of the memo was to remind all of us that we should be doing business with the people who bought advertising with our radio station.
Such a simple and logical statement. Be loyal to those who are loyal to you. In that particular case, if those folks don’t advertise, I might not have had a job. So I took it to heart and tried to return the favor as much as possible.
And now, here we are.
Things are tough economically right now. For you. For me. For the University and its athletic department. And, it’s tough for the businesses that have invested in Louisiana Athletics.
I haven’t been spending a ton of money recently, but I’m doing my best to patronize those sponsors who have invested in the Ragin’ Cajuns. Every take out meal I buy is from a restaurant partner of the Ragin' Cajuns. I’m mindful of where I grocery shop …. where I bank … I’ve changed what kind of beer I buy and need to look into giving local insurance carriers a chance. I’ve been sending flowers from Spedale’s for years. I’m not in the market for a car right now, but I’ve got a list of where to shop for the future.
Now … you may not know all of the sponsors that support the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, so I’m going to supply you with a list. And, I’ll apologize in advance if I left anyone out.
Oh, and by the way, the Ragin' Cajuns are running a promotion for the Cajuns Care Carryout Challenge. Take a picture of your meal, put it on social media with the hashtag #CajunsCare, and you might win prizes.
