The only All-Americans in the history of Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis, Bret Garnett and Ashley Rhoney were ranked No. 1 in the nation in 1987 and No. 2 nationally in 1988. The duo were members of the Ragin' Cajuns nationally-ranked tennis team in 1988 that earned a year-end No. 18 ranking. Playing from 1985-88, Rhoney compiled a 134-80 record with the Cajuns ā 71-48 in singles, 63-32 in doubles. Garnett was 65-39 in singles with three straight 20-win seasons (24-11, 20-13, 21-15) playing mainly against the country's best atop the order.

The duo would eventually reach the professional level, where they reached the Round of 16 at three Grand Slam events ā US Open, Australian Open and Wimbledon ā along with the quarterfinals of the French Open.
