LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis head coach Mark Jeffrey announced on Thursday the signing of Jan Galka to a National Letter-of-Intent for the 2018-19 season.
GET TO KNOW GALKA: Galka, a native of Warsaw, Poland, is a 6-foot-4 right hander who has a ton of experience on the European Circuit. He represented Poland at Summer Cup 2017 and was the Vice Champion on Hardcourt 2017. At the 2017 Championships of Poland, Galka was on the team that finished in second place and he has already gained one point from the Association of Tennis Professionals in his young career.
QUOTEWORTHY:
(Head Coach Mark Jeffrey):
"No doubt this a great day for our program. Jan is a strong guy that is looking to develop into a contender for the ATP Tour after his collegiate career is over. He is what we're looking for in a freshman, since he knows that the best of his tennis is ahead of him. At Louisiana he can step by step make improvements in his game that will get him ready for the rigors of top level competition. We have a great schedule in the upcoming fall ready for Jan to tackle, with five to six top level tournaments and a mix of collegiate and professional events that will really push him to reach his goals. I can't say enough how excited we are to welcome Jan and his family to Louisiana and bring them into the Ragin' Cajuns Tennis Nation."
