Walker, Hrusoci earn all-conference honors on final day for Cajuns
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Seniors Taylor Walker and Alena Hrusoci each turned in a pair of third-place finishes to earn all-conference honors and lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team on the final day of the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships on Sunday at the Bobcat Track and Field Complex.
Louisiana finished ninth on both sides with the men's team scoring 60.5 points and the women's team scoring 22.5. Arkansas State claimed the men's title with 159 points while host Texas State surged on the final day to edge A-State, 139.5-138.5.
Walker set a personal-best in the women's triple jump (41-5 ¼) and fourth-best mark in school history on her final attempt to finish third for the Ragin' Cajuns. Hrusoci, the 2016 SBC champion in the women's 400-meter hurdles, finished third in the event (59.895), edging Arkansas State's Gracee Damron (59.896).
Lindsay LaGarde (18:10.26) placed seventh for Louisiana in a crowded women's 5,000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 18:10.26.
Stanley Limoh finished fourth in the men's 800-meters (1:51.27) for Louisiana with Jonathan Kimutai (4:00.60) finishing sixth in the men's 1,500-meter run.
Tyler Hughes earned an eighth-place finish in the men's 110-meter hurdles (14.27) for Louisiana while the Ragin' Cajuns 4x400-meter relay team of Kemondrick Walter, Kimutai, Chandler Mixon and Logan LaGarde finished seventh overall in 3:21.88.
Louisiana will next compete at the NCAA East Preliminary, scheduled for May 24-26 in Tampa, Fla.
