Ragin’ Cajuns Golf Finishes 11th At Old Waverly Collegiate Championship

WEST POINT, Miss. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team moved up two spots in the final round of the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship on Tuesday to finish in 11th place with an overall score of 50-over par (914) at the par-72, 7,000-yard Old Waverly Golf Club.

No. 10 LSU used a round of 11-under to surpass No. 34 Ole Miss for the team title with a three-round score 9-under (855).

Braden Thornberry of Ole Miss was the wire-to-wire individual champion with a 54-hole score of 12-under par (204).

Gudjonsson Posts Strong Round

Freshman Bjorn Gudjonsson carded his eighth round of par or better on the season with a 71 (-1) in the final round. Gudjonsson started the day with a birdie on his first hole of the day and stayed under par for the remainder of the round with four birdies and three bogies in the round.

Sliman's Thoughts

"This year and especially the spring has seen its share of extreme ups and downs. We are a team with a lot of talent, but we are also young and still inexperienced. This group is good enough to go and win the Sun Belt Conference Championship if we compete the way that we can for five straight rounds. We will need to show up both physically and mentally for that to happen."
