Louisiana will open up in Peachtree, Ga., against Appalachian State on Friday, Apr. 20.
NEW ORLEANS – With the Sun Belt Conference Men's Tennis Championships at Peachtree City, Ga., beginning on Friday, Apr. 20, the conference announced the seeding for the championships today, and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team (18-9) were seeded second out of eight for their highest seed since winning the SBC Championships in 2014.
WHEN IT ALL KICKS OFF: There are no first-round byes given in the men's portion of the championships and the Cajuns will take on the seventh seeded Appalachian State Mountaineers in the first round with the match scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. CT on Friday Apr. 20.

SEEDED LIKE ITS 2014: In 2014 the Cajuns received the top seed at the Championships and they rolled to the title, winning two matches on their way to the title. In that championship run they took down UT Arlington, 4-1, and the wrapped up the title with a 4-2 win over South Alabama.
IT'S BEEN A WINNING SEASON: The Cajuns head into the championships after completing the best season they've had since their 2014 SBC title winning season. Â Louisiana's 18 wins are the most they've had since winning 20 in 2014 and they had a seven-match winning streak during the final month of the season.Â
          Â
The Cajuns had highlight wins throughout the season, starting with a 4-2 win over Rice in Houston, Texas on Jan. 21. Louisiana followed that up with a 4-3 win at VCU on Feb. 13 and they snagged another win against a defending conference champion, giving them three on the season, when they took down Tennessee Tech, 4-2, on Feb. 23.
          Â
Individually the Cajuns got a big win in doubles when the pairing of senior Vlad Kramarov and sophomore Elio Lago took down the then nationally ranked No. 22 doubles pair of Aziz Kijametovic and Francois Musitelli from Old Dominion, 6-3, on Feb. 10.Â
WHO LED THE CAJUNS: Lago and sophomore Pearse Dolan finished with a team lead 17 wins in singles, with Dolan finishing 17-4 and Lago finishing 17-7. Lago also put together a 13-match winning streak and he won his last 14 out of 15 matches.
          Â
In doubles the Cajuns were led by Dolan and freshman Pierce Gilheany. The young pairing finished with a team high 10-2 record and they won their first six matches together.
IF THE CAJUNS WIN: If Louisiana wins their first-round match, they'll face the winner of No. 3 South Alabama and No. 6 UT Arlington in the semifinals on Saturday, Apr. 21 with that match starting at 2:00 p.m. CT on ESPN3.
