Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball Competing at Houston's FAST Complex on Saturday

HOUSTON – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball is headed to Houston on Saturday, April 14 to participate in the FAST Collegiate Invitational.

The tournament provides an opportunity for Houston area Ragin' Cajuns alumni and fans to meet head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot and her squad.

One of the largest college spring tournaments in the country, featuring 17 teams from the Louisiana and Texas, the event is being held at the FAST Complex located at 15400 Hempstead Road.

Doors are scheduled to open at 7 a.m. Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens. Tickets will be sold at the door and can be purchased with cash only.

The Ragin' Cajuns will play four matches throughout the day. Fans have an opportunity to watch the team compete in either the morning or afternoon.

Louisiana's schedule of matches is as follows:
            8 a.m. vs. Incarnate Word (Court 1)
            11 a.m. vs. Stephen F. Austin (Court 1)
            1 p.m. vs. Texas Southern (Court 7)
            3 p.m. vs. Rice (Court 3)

The Ragin' Cajuns (21-11, 13-3 SBC in 2017) are seeking to build upon the program's finest season in the Sun Belt Conference era (1991-present). During the 2017 season, the squad raced out to a school-record 7-0 start in league play, posted the first winning conference mark since 2002 and set the school record for SBC wins. The reward was the program's highest seed ever (No. 3) in the SBC Tournament.

Head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot, preparing for the 11th season of her tenure, has a roster that features three returning All-Sun Belt Conference performers in middle blocker Dree'Ana Abram, libero Sydney Davis and 2017 SBC Freshman of the Year Hali Wisnoskie.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Ragin' Cajuns conclude tournament play in the spring 2018 non-championship segment on Saturday, April 21 in Baton Rouge.

Louisiana will participate in an LSU-hosted tournament at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center with matches against the Tigers, McNeese and Tulane.
