Ragin’ Cajuns Fall To Troy In Series Opener

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team fell to Troy 6-2 in the series opener on Friday night at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
Starter Nick Lee took the loss for the Ragin' Cajuns (9-12, 1-3 SBC) giving up four runs (three earned) on four hits and five walks in 4.1 innings.
Andrew Crane tossed a complete game for the Trojans (15-7, 2-2 SBC) limiting the Cajuns to two runs on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
LEADING THE CAJUNS
Senior Tyler Stover went 2-for-3 in the contest and drove in a run as the Ragin' Cajuns were outhit 10-5 by Troy.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cajuns got out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on a two-out single to left field by Stover to plate Hayden Cantrelle.
The Trojans answered quickly though as Cole Prestegard sent a two-out, two-run single through the left side of the infield to give Troy a 2-1 edge.
Kennon Fontenot pulled Louisiana even at 2-all in the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run to right field.
Again Troy answered right away with a two-run fifth inning to go back in front 4-2 after an RBI double by Joey Denison and an RBI single by Prestegard.
The Trojans tacked on the final runs of the game in the top of the eighth on a Denison sac fly and a bases loaded walk to Drew Frederic to make the final 6-2.
UP NEXT
Louisiana and Troy return to action tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Russo Park. Sophomore right-hander Jack Burk will make the start for the Cajuns, while right-hander Daren Osby will take the mound for the Trojans.
