Baudoin posts 10th-best mark in pole vault for Cajuns
LAFAYETTE – Sven Glueck and Angus Sinclair each claimed top honors in the men's high jump with Lindsay LaGarde and Hailey Hesterman producing a late charge to finish 1-2 in the women's 1,500-meter run to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team on the final day of the Louisiana Classics on Saturday at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility.
Kyle Baudoin earned a second-place finish in the men's pole vault with Tyler Hughes finishing third overall in the 110-meter hurdles as Louisiana wrapped up its lone home meet of the season on a positive note.
"Last night started off very well for us with three (NCAA) regional qualifiers," head coach Lon Badeaux said. "We came back today and started off with Kyle in the pole vault, which should get him in the regional, our guys in the 800 ran really well, our high jumpers did really well in the end.
"It was a pretty good meet for the throwers, jumpers and distance runners. We still have some work to do with the sprinters. We're waiting for some runners to get healthy after indoor. It's still early and we'll get them going."
Glueck and Sinclair each cleared the bar at 6-7 ½ to finish in a three-way tie for first place for Louisiana with sophomore Damon Guidry finishing in a fifth-place tie after posting an identical mark.
LaGarde, Hesterman and Courtney Musgrove each led a charge down the stretch for Louisiana with LaGarde crossing the finish line in 4:45.29 with Hesterman less than a second behind at 4:46.04. Musgrove earned a fourth-place finish for the Ragin' Cajuns, crossing the finish line in 4:47.47.
