Cajuns to Complete Road Trip at Nicholls State

LAFAYETTE, La. - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team will complete their current four-game road trip with a match at Nicholls State on Wednesday, April 9 at 2 p.m., in their last road match of the 2014 season.

The Cajuns are looking to snap a three match losing streak, spanning the entire road trip, after falling to Troy (4-3), South Alabama (6-1) and ULM (4-3).

"Nicholls has a top notch team this year," head coach Gregory Harkins said. "They are having success through out the state and region and were nationally ranked earlier this spring."

Harkins noted that despite the struggles on the current road trip, the team did well in doubles matches, earning two of three possible victories over the three game slide.

"We have been successful at winning the doubles point in many our matches this season which will be our trigger point to gain momentum for the match," Harkins added. "If we can play consistent from beginning to end we will give ourselves the opportunity to win the contest."

In both doubles victories, the teams of Melissa Burkhartt and Juliette Clement, along with Julie Cremers and Alexandra Way picked up the victories.

"Sometimes its difficult see the progress," Harkins said. "The team has made improvements this season and gained a lot of experience through some tough matches. We are staying positive and look forward to the next few weeks."

The Cajuns will have one more home match before heading to New Orleans for the 2014 Sun Belt Championship. The final home match is scheduled for April 13 against Southern Miss at 2 p.m. at Cajun Courts.
