LAFAYETTE, La. – After a seven year drought, the 62nd-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team is back in the NCAA Tournament and will face Mississippi State at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 9 in the first round of the Austin Regional hosted by the University of Texas at the Penick-Allison Tenis Center.
"I'm super excited about playing Mississippi State in the first round," head coach Mark Jeffrey said. "We had hoped to be in the Texas regional which is huge. This will be very similar to the conference tournament. If we can go out there with that mindset, then I think we will do well."
Jeffrey, who was an All-American for Mississippi State, led the Ragin' Cajuns to their first conference championship since 2006 and 10th overall after defeating South Alabama 4-2 in the Sun Belt Championship match.
The winner of the Cajuns' match against the Bulldogs will face the winner of the Texas/Marist first round matchup in the second round of the tournament on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Tickets for the regional will be $8 for adults and $6 for youth, ages 2-18. Tickets can be purchased through TexasSports.com or on match day at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
