CAJUNS UPDATE: The Cajuns continued their hot streak, sweeping ULM and winning their 22nd consecutive game. They improved their record to 40-11, picking up 40 wins in a season for the 15th consecutive season. They defeated ULM by scores of 8-2, 12-3 and 6-0, and crushed eight home runs over the weekend.
WALLACE WINS FOURTH: Jordan Wallace won her fourth Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week award of the 2013 season, and eighth of her career, announced on May 6 by the Sun Belt Offices. Wallace picked up two more wins on the weekend and struck out 19 batters, including her 300th of the season. She finished the season tied with Emily Rousseau at four selections each, in a total of 12 weeks.
WE'RE GOING STREAKING: The Cajuns are in the midst of a season-high 22 game winning streak, dating back to March 17 at South Alabama. In comparison, #1 Oklahoma (43-3), has only won 17 consecutive games this season.
THE LOTIEF DYNASTY: The Cajuns won their 40th game of the season on Sunday and have now won 40 games in every season since 1998. The Cajuns have never failed to win 40 games with a Lotief at the helm of the program, stringing together 15 consecutive 40-win seasons.
WALLACE IN THE STREAK: Jordan Wallace has been a huge factor in the Cajuns' current winning streak. She holds a 16-0 record with two saves in 15 starts and 21 total appearances with a 1.07 ERA and 179 strikeouts. She has a strikeout to walk ratio of 5.77 and has thrown 98.0 innings, allowing just 13 extra-base hits. She has held opponents to a .138 batting average, allowing just 47 hits.
HAACK ATTACK: Matte Haack hit a first inning grand slam in the second game against ULM, and continued to crush the ball during the Cajuns' winning streak. In the past 22 games, Haack is batting .429 with seven home runs, 33 RBI and 19 runs scored, going 27-for-63 at the plate. She has also reached base eight times on a base on balls and been plunked four times.
WHAT ARE THEY RANKED? The Cajuns moved up to 21st in the USA Today/NFCA Softball poll when it was released on Tuesday, April 30, moving up one spot from last week's poll. They also sit in 21st in the National RPI rankings, which ranks every team in the NCAA Division-I.
WALLACE AMONG NATIONAL RANKS: Jordan Wallace has fanned 11.0 batters per seven-innings, which is the fourth highest in the NCAA, behind leader Blaire Luna (12.3) of Texas. She is also fifth in the nation with 302 strikeouts, behind leader Olivia Galati, whom the Cajuns beat in March at the NFCA Lead-Off Classic.
CAREER RECORD WATCH: Nerissa Myers topped the Ragin' Cajuns All-Time Runs record, scoring her 231st career run on a Brianna Cherry home run. She over took Jerie Alexander (1999-2002) at 230 runs.
